What Size Stove Do I Need? Please use the following spreadsheet to determine the size stove depending on manufacturer you are looking at. Please keep in mind that many factors come into play when picking a size stove and the following spreadsheet is to be taken as approximate. Generally speaking it is better to go too big then too small. However if you are in a suburban type area, be careful not oversize because on some models having to big of stove can cause more smoke. When adding a second building, and if you want to heat that building to full temperature, double the square footage of the smaller building and add to your calculations Simply put in your square footage, age of buildings, and whether you are burning wood or coal in the yellow boxes and the models that will work for you will be listed in the green boxes below.
