Reasons to buy a Sequoyah
Outdoor Wood Furnace
- Shaker Grates and Ash Pan. Why would you want anything
else. If you buy a system with stationary grates you will
have to rake all of the coals through the grates to empty
the ash pan. If you buy one with an auger, what will happen
when you burn something with nails in it. And if you buy one
that you shovel the ashes out the door, plan on buying a new
coat regularly as sooner or later you will catch it on fire.
- Firebrick. Firebrick enhances a fires burning so much it
is unreasonable to consider a furnace without it. Firebrick
will cause your firebrick to burn hotter, thus creating less
emissions, and more heat out of the same amount of wood.
Firebrick will also help your wood to burn up more
completely leaving less ash and unburnt charcoal behind.
- Air under the fire. By introducing forced draft air
below the grates the air is supplied to the wood at the
location it is needed most. This is a great aid in getting a
fire started, recovers temperature much quicker, and burns
the wood up more completely.
- Boiler Plate Steel. Ask around, everyone has heard of
outdoor wood furnaces that have failed do to cracks.
Then ask what material they were made of. If they cracked it
was most likely stainless. A lot is made of the corrosion
that can take place in boiler plate. These people never talk
about the corrosion that can happen in a stove made of
stainless because of the dissimilar metals that cause
electrolysis like fittings, pumps and valves. You will not
have these kind of problems with boiler plate. Water
treatments have come a long way in recent years. By doing a
simple adding of a quart of treatment every 6 months you
will insure a long boiler life that is not only warranted by
us, but also warranted by the boiler treatment company as
