Do
your units have shaker grates?
Yes
they do, to operate these all you have to do is grab the handle on
the front of the stove.
What size unit should I get?
One
easy way is to look at the BTU output of your current furnace. If
you are going to burn coal only then you can get a furnace of the
same size or larger. If you are going to burn wood then it is a good
idea to double the BTU amount and buy a furnace that size or larger.
The reason for this is that many times when burning wood you will
have wet, green, or poor quality wood that takes more wood to burn
efficiently. You do not want to be faced with having to fill your
furnace more often then a couple of times a day.
Do I
need to poor concrete to set the unit on?
We do
recommend concrete. The pad should be at least 6'x6' for all of the
furnaces above, but 6'x12' gives you more area in front of the
furnaces to clean and to stand on when filling. The furnace can be
set to the rear of the pad with the rear of the furnace overhanging
the cement so the underground pipes and electric can still get into
the furnace. Some people do set them on cement silo staves or other
blocks. This will work but care must be taken to make sure they are
set solid and level. Remember that water weighs 8 lbs per gallon so
the unit can be rather heavy when loaded with water and wood.
Does
an instruction Manual come with the furnace?
Yes
it does. It also explains some installation scenarios.
I have a forced air system in my home. How big
of a water to air heat exchanger do I need?
You
will want to measure your plenum size and get the largest one
possible for this. The larger the heat exchanger the more heat you
will get.
